Thinking bout leasing my 'boy' out - 15.1hh TB gelding, 10yo
I am considering . .. umming and ahhing . . bout the possibility of leasing my 15.1hh 10yo Brown TB, JD, out to a 'very' special home - def within SA! He's the one with the 'horrific' leg wound from Aug last year for those that remember and was deemed never to be rideable again - let alone jumping!
Well, as it turns out now that the hind leg has completely healed (with scar) he is totally 100% rideable again! BUT in the time he was out . . somehow . . I ended up getting another horse and now i am really struggling (being lazy) and dont' have the time to work 2 - esp cos the other mare is young and needs more time put in to her.
soooooo do i lease him out . . can anyone help me find the best home possible for him.
Lease terms etc (length, where, how, when) can all be by mutual agreement - prob 6 month terms.
now a bit bout the horse
as said above JD is 15.1hh brown TB gelding 10yo. He is an absoloute sweetheart to handle and ride - although because of the home required for him I would not let him go to a beginner. He is currently very grouchy as he is sitting in the paddock - rugged and in 'great' condition - doing not a lot! He jumps well - I have jumped him up to 80cm after the injury with no prob - altho I wouldn't like him to go somewhere he is going to have to jump alot.
He is a good alllrounder - good to take to PC, excellent on trail rides, alone and in company. Snaffle mouth - loose ring sweet iron only as anything heavier annoys him. (bit can come with him) Does not pull or do anything drastic - I have a very dodgy shoulder and ride him with no dramas at all. More than happy to go along with not much contact, or with work would work great on the bit I'm sure.
I can't believe I am even considering letting him out to someone but my theory is that someone, somewhere must be in need of a horse like him . . and at the moment he is not getting used and he might as well be cos he is perfectly useable!
Yes he does sound like a dream horse I know .. perhaps I am a tad biased . . . he is no 'superstar' but is a great allrounder and will try his best at anything, he just likes doing stuff! always pricks his ears when he sees the float getting hooked up . . . then sulks when left home!
I will not say he is 'bombproof' as I do not believe any horse is actually this but for someone with riding experience, perhaps someone getting back into riding after time off . . . . someone without time to work him 5 days a week .. . . he'd be great. Obviously care and consideration of his leg need to be of utmost importance - he can sometimes be a little stiff, nothing major, but would certainly benefit from a good warm up/cool down when worked, (my preference is for an adult rider and not a teenager for this reason as they have to be considerate to him and his limits - ie not hooning round flat out everywhere!)
anyone interested or know of anyone who might be . . ..

I have someone who is looking for something but it is only short term, so would possibly put you back in the same situation as you are in now. Also they are in teh South East would you be happy for him to be that far away... They just want a horse to cruise around on while their otherone is haveing 6 months off, with injury

by the time they pay for transport down there and back they mite as well buy a cheap one! lol he originally came from down that way. get them to email me and we'll go from there . . . location isn't too much of an issue - like I said its the home and care he's gonna receive that is more important than anything else. Having him back in 6 months wouldn't overly worry me as he is no hassle to have sitting at home just thought someone mite be able to use him .. . . .
