Grassy (is that possible) winter paddock for spelling a stallion

Post by Bandicoot on Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:14 pm

I am putting it out there as I probobly wont end up taking him off the farm as I am very fussy (as we all are on here) but I was hoping to turn my stallion out over winter. Co-inciding with the end of the show season and the birth of baby no. 2. So about 8 weeks in all in a few weeks time (well, after Strath show anyhow).

Does anyone know of anywhere good who takes Stallions for spelling? With experienced people running the show? Don't need any morons watching over my boy.. LOL He may be a standardbred, but he is priceless to me.

Would like to see him feel some lovely grass under his hooves, he has certainly earnt it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

If it's just for spelling, then I can have a chat to the owners of the place I agist at.

My baby is there atm on irrigated pasture and their stable complex will be up and running in a week or two (just puting in water and electricity)

It's in woodside.

Don't Vision Park Stud cater for stallions?

I can offer stallion agistment, but I do have someone with spellers I'm waiting on a yes/no from so not 100% on availability just yet. PM me if you like and I can let you know what I've got.

Hey Bandicoot.. this is a bit late as I dont read every post, every day.. BUT do you know Paul Cormack? Not far from you and has remade his property into an a top notch agistment place. All paddocks are about 1/2 acre and some are bigger, all irrigated to lucerne etc. Told me last week he charges $10 or so per day.. Not sure about stallions though as he only seems to have mares and geldings there at the moment. And they are all Standies.. Considering it is close to you, could be worth checking out further..
