Looking for a experienced Horse clipper! ASAP

Post by Ems on Fri Apr 17, 2009 12:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I am needing to get my Marni man clipped as he is getting very fluffy and hairy and is sweating up rediculously when being worked making it difficult as its cold and wet he needs to be spunged or hosed down after every workout and last year when i brought him he had a skin problem which was due to heat etc even though we have found a shampoo that has stopped it from re-occuring i do not want to cause any extra heat from under his saddle where all his bumps and lumps were last time and were very painful for him! So i want to get on top of it asap and cannot find anyone to do him until the middle of May.

I will have my vet come and sedate him for whoever can find the time to fit him in in the next week or 2?? I would really appreciate and payment up front on the day of course!!

Many Thanks

Em

I'm also interested in having one of mine clipped. Can't see that he'd be an issue - he's half asleep most of the time.

Happy to help out. My price is $30 per hr so it depends on how well the horse behaves as to how much it costs this protects me from the horrible ponies and their owners who say that they're 'really good to clip' (I took close to 4 hours on one of these 'good' horses Evil or Very Mad )

A full clip to show standards takes about 2 hours on a helpful horse

I will probably be free to do some next week as his nanna is on holidays and I may be able to bail her up for a 1/2 day otherwise it is only on weekends

Ems does he need the vet or is it just a precaution?

HC, I'll keep you in mind as you're a local!
Only thing is, where I'd be getting the boy/s clipped- there's access to power but no shelter as such.

Oh Hills Chick your the best then he will be all nuddy for Marion lol easy to keep the sweat off him then Smile

Well if Nanna doesn't mind us steeling you for a half a day im in for sure!! And as long as the lil rosie cheeked man doesn't mind losing his mummy for a half a day too? Up to you if you wanna do both on the same day im happy to take him over to Gavin's not a problem at all probably closer for you then too and then we only need to get the one vet out Smile i think they mostly use Harry at Gavin's so im happy for him to sedate marni Smile

Ems let's do the day I pmd you about and I'll come over to you, might be better for the marni man to be at home where he feels safe.

Dr D I'll have to check with hubby first but the 27th should be OK being a public holiday

Terra, unless it's raining or extremely windy, I'm fine with no shelter. I've done it millions of times with no roof, it's no stress
