Hoping to take Mr Marni out to this one for a trial before the HOTY at the end of November.
Anyone else planning on going?

Bugger. I wanted to do this one. Was hoping there would be an open ring.

No. Nikki's been to the Royal twice. That wouldn't be fair to others.

No, she's a pony anyway. I could be up against ponies/riders at their first ever show. That's not fair. I couldn't do it. I might do the MV show next month.

That's a good idea except i'd have to take a day off work (unpaid, only made permanent at work recently) so it wouldn't really be worth it. Pretty sure Morphett Vale has an open ring & there is a hack show on Ayliffe's Rd in Jan. i think.

CN, Just cos Nikki went to the royal in a past life certainly shouldn't preclude you. I don't see this show as much different to any open show.... you're always gonna have some people starting out. I wouldn't let it stop you. That's the purpose of maiden classes. You might be suprised and get your butt whooped by a kid on a pony! ha ha ha!

Re: McLaren Districts Hack Show **CANCELLED**
Ok, i am thinking about it now. Since i haven't had a lesson in 9 years & I can't ride for poo anymore, kind of makes it more fair!
I did the encourage ring at Pinnaroo show 2002, simply for the purpose of letting 2 of the girls i was teaching to ride, compete. I only rode in one class & boy did i cop a mouthful from the judge! When the girls came out on Nikki i think he was eating humble pie. He was so rude. But he was rude to everyone. I'm surprised anyone came back the following year. Not very "encouraging". That was the last show i did.
Are you going to the show DD?

Re: McLaren Districts Hack Show **CANCELLED**
Yeah, I know lots of people who are on ex-high level show horses still getting around the scenes. Similarly heaps of people in lower level eventing on learning and moving up the ranks on old reliable schoolmasters that have competed 1* and 2* before, but they aren't at their peak and have less experienced riders so who is anyone to say it's not fair? Everyone has to learn/start somewhere
And having a long time off is tough - you certainly don't want to HAVE to jump straight back into EA and SHC showing if you're not wuite there yet.... gotta get exposure somewhere - and hey, you may just wanna do it for fun

And no, I won't be going. Got the Horse Trials Fri and Sat and an exam Tues so need to discipline myself. And have planned hack shows for the 22nd and 29th and I don't think I could handle more than that!
