Re: SA ANDALUSIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
I know Tanya, when I filled in my entry form and then added everything up I thought - CRICKIES, thats not cheep!
But, with insurance and everything - shows are not cheep to attend anymore. Plus all the work that goes into them and venue hire etc, it all add's up.
At least the weather will be a bit cooler - according to the Elders Website, Mt Crawford (near Mt Pleasent) will be 24C on Sunday

Re: SA ANDALUSIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Why are there only classes for Fresian WB and not straight WB classes, think that is a bit strange. Dont really understand why you would actually cross the 2 breeds anyway.

Re: SA ANDALUSIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
A Friesian Warmblood is any horse that has 25% Friesian breeding in it, regardless of the other 75%.
A better name would probably be "Friesian Sporthorse", although a "Warmblood" is actually mixture of horse breeds anyway (The definition of a Warmblood is having a minimum of 25% German Breeding - ie minimum 25% Hanovarian, Oldenburg, Holstien etc)
It just so happens that my Filly is actually 50% Friesian, 25% Hanovarian and 25% TB - so she is technically a Friesian Warmblood AND a WB
The reason that there are Friesian Warmbloods in this show and not WB's is because Friesians are considered to be of Baroque Type, similer to Andalusians, Lipanzaners etc.
Plus the classes are sponsored by the Australian Friesian Warmblood Horse Society
Hope that answers your questions O and B

Re: SA ANDALUSIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Tina you answered the question above beautifully, thanks.
In regards to the costs of classes they are reasonable I think as costing for getting good ribbons now days isn't cheep! Sponsorship is also becoming more difficult too. We will all be paying more at Shows now due to some changes in Insurance with EA. So I think it's all a part of our hobby, that we all know isn't cheap....!

Re: SA ANDALUSIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Forgot to add - if no one decided to cross the two breeds I would not have my wonderful baby!

Zyann enjoying a booby scratch
To me she is the perfect combination of a black, chunky, docile Friesian and nice moving, quiet WB

Re: SA ANDALUSIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Following on from horsemad's post - I think I will consider joining the EA/EFA as then I won't have to pay insurance levies at most shows.
The insurance component is generally the most expensive part of entering shows - and this fee has nothing to do with the club hosting the show and has to be passed on

Re: SA ANDALUSIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
EVERYBODY SHOULD HAVE A FRIESIAN WARMBLOOD!
I have had Kobus for 11 years he has been the most versatile, competitive stunning head turner both here in SA and in WA. He has show jumped, evented, competed in official dressage, hunted, pony clubbed, won numerous supreme breed classes, hacked and even won a barrel race and a bending race! So thats why you would breed one, he is also my best friend and even after not being ridden for a year due to being pregnant and being a first time mum i jumped straight on him and he remembered all his lateral work and natural horseman stuff and was a gentleman. First hack show after my daughter was born and he came away with champion hack Enough said.....Friesian warmbloods are true sporthorses!
Can you tell i like them...

Looks like it is going to be 36C in Adelaide now, not 29C like they were saying
Oh well, at least it will be cooler in the Hills I guess.

Re: SA ANDALUSIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Mmmm, looks like it is going to be 40C now :O
I will still be going to the show - but have made the executive decision that I will do the 3 led classes first up (at the revised time of 8am) and then think about heading home. If the combined classes are straight after I will stay for them, but I have put a cerfew on myself of 10am so thats when I will be heading off.
