Thinking about agisting... Empty
PostSubject: Thinking about agisting...   Thinking about agisting... EmptyTue Oct 29, 2013 5:42 pm

I'm considering agisting Iris over the holidays (December to Feb). Although I absolutely love having her at home it's hard to get consistent work in when I have to float up to an arena every time I want a decent ride. I'm still just at the planning stage at the moment, and I'd have to work out what to do with Noah, so we'll see what happens, and I would need to find somewhere suitable to agist.

Any suggestions for agistment places near Upper Hermitage (i.e. Golden Grove, One Tree Hill, Inglewood, Paracombe etc. area) that has the following:
  • Doesn't mind me only agisting for 2 or 3 months. I know some places like long term agistees and that's fine, but this is just short term.
  • Has a dressage arena
  • Flood lights would be great (so I can ride at night when it's cooler) but not essential.
  • I'd prefer somewhere with paddocks, or at least with access to grazing some of the day.

Cost isn't too much of an issue as it's only short term, but less than $50/week would be good. Any suggestions would be great.
Also, any ideas on what to do with Noah? He'll get lonely here by himself, and I don't want him to get picked on like he did last time I left him at someone else's place for a day Sad

Where's Ros Richardson?
I had a look at Mulberry Park, it looks nice, but they seem to want long term agistees. I might call them anyway, it can't hurt to ask.
I'd love to come to Franks but I really want a paddock! Smile

Ros is on Pegasus Court - off of Bellerophon drive (or something like that - just up the road from us.
Jellybelly used to agist there - may have Ros' number

I don't recommend Ros' at all, sorry, but I can pass along the number if you like. Try GG equestrian center - they have a paddock you can sit around and watch them in (only under supervision are they allowed out) ATJ agists there. They have an advert up on aushorse but not sure if they have a vacancy.

MP has lights - which is a bonus. paddocks can be quite steep but not an issue in summer, more of a problem in winter.

I don't think either GGEC or MP are under $50 a week though.

We have found our agistment mainly by door knocking and friends of friends, so anyone you know in the area, ask. They can only say no.
