HORSE WANTED!

Post by Terra on Mon Mar 02, 2009 8:07 pm

Righto, I've started getting seriously antsy, and have been looking for a horse I can actually DO stuff on. I'm limited with what I can do with Terra coz he's still got to race (ie can't jump, cant take him out). I'm looking for a horse I can jump, trail ride, show etc.
I've still got to check to make sure I CAN have my own horse on the property but I don't see it being a problem.

What I'm after-
Anything 4 years and up. At the very least green broken. The greener it is, the more sensible it needs to be, I'm no expert! (Ie Terra is green broke, but a very sensible and smart young man so I'm coping. If he was psycho I wouldn't be riding him!)
Prefer under 15 years. Preferably under 10.
15.2hh to 17hh. Must be able to carry weight- I'm putting on weight now that I've quit smoking and can hit 90kg all geared up.
Don't mind colour/breed etc- as long as it's not fugly/unsound. Might look at something say 14.3, 15hh but depends on the type!
Quiet-ish. I can handle a little 'spunk' and I like horses that THINK, but I don't do buckers/rearers/bolters etc (unless they come with a stock saddle... lmao).
Free lease or similar would be ideal. Give away would be awesome but I'm not holding my breath!
Don't need saddles etc, got all that. (I managed to put 3 bridles together from spare parts today...)

What the horse would get-
80 acres of horse-heaven. Good fencing, lots of equine friends, supervision. Damned good feed (including vitamins, minerals, oils etc every morning).

Am I asking too much?

Thanks everyone who PM'd me- asked my Auntie today and have to put a hold on it for just a couple of months! We've had one horse come back today for a spell, and are expecting a few more within the next couple of months, but then we're pissing everyone off again and will have some free paddocks! Will ask again then Smile By then I'll probably have moved in there too, whee!

Bumping this again- have organised agistment 200m up the road from my Aunties, so I can still use her arena etc.
Unfortunately, I've lost all the PMs I got originally!
I know someone had a few horses up for lease?
Looking for a standie or similar- quiet and good doer. Wanting to do trail riding, fun rides, lessons etc.

Hey Terra I have a horse that you can lease. He has no probs carrying weight ( he has been lugging my fat arse around). He's been there done that is good for begginners - advanced, not nasty, quiet so if your nervous he looks after you well. ( I'm a nervous rider and he's done wonders for me.). Ok reason for leasing him: I have my three year old that I'm now putting time into and he's sitting in the paddock wasting. He's the type that you can drag out the paddock after not riding for months and jump straight bare back halter and lead and be safe, with no lunging etc first.

Hiya Terra- I have a 15.3hh STUNNING standie for free lease. She is above and beyond our means at the moment and has just come in from Paddock. Was broken in by Aylesbury Lodge. When ridden regualrly is very quiet. I just have my hands full with teaching other half to ride and son, and breaking in three others lol - plus Im saving for a float and If she can go somewhere where she will be worked I would love it. PM me for for details and photos.
